Emil Prukop Obituary (1926 - 2025)

Emil Prukop, 98, passed away at his home surrounded by family on Tuesday, May 27, 2025. He was born on September 5, 1926 in Kosciusko, TX, to the late Frank and Gertrude Maron Prukop. At the age of 1 he moved to McCook, TX, and was raised on the family farm. Emil served in the army in the Philippines’ during in WWII. Emil married the love of his life Mary Jo Kilgore on October 27, 1956, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in McCook, Texas where they were lifelong active members. Emil is preceded in death by his parents, his wife and his siblings, Frank Prukop, Sophie Foley Matthew, Conrad Prukop, Philip Prukop, Irene Lyssy and Hedwig “Hattie” Kotara. Emil is survived by his daughter Loretta (Mike) Williams of Sundown, TX and his son Daniel (Betty Dean) Prukop of Palito Blanco, TX, his granddaughter Rhiannon Williams of New Braunfels, TX and his grandson Garrett Prukop of Palito Blanco, TX and numerous nieces and nephews. Emil was also known as Uncle Emil to many. Emil is also survived by his caretakers Belen Villalobos, Imelda Palomo, Graceila Gutierrez, Marcelina Torres Ramirez, and Sandra Lopez. Also a special thank you to Gary Keller and Frankie Kotzur. Visitation will be on Sunday, June 1, 2025 at 5 p.m. at Ric Brown Funeral Home in Mission, 621 E. Griffin Parkway, with rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, June 2, 2025 at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in McCook with burial to follow at Immaculate Concepcion Cemetery.
