March 14, 1960 - July 10, 2021

Matilde 'Chile' Gonzalez born March 14, 1960 went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 10, 2021 in Edinburg, Texas. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife Mirtha Niño de Gonzalez, his children Frank (Arlene) Gonzalez, Victor Lee, Erica Gonzalez, Maria Piedad (Paul Ruble), Alfredo Escalante Jr (Misty), and Samuel Escalante, his mother Maria Pilar Anzaldua, and his siblings Maria Castañeda (Felix) from Olton,Tx, Bernardo (Micaela) Anzaldua from La Grulla, Dalia Anzaldua (Gary) from Village Mills, Tx, Gerardo Gonzalez from Mission, Norma (Gilbert) Lerma from Mission, Sandra (Juan) Ayala from Mission, and Pilar A. Garza from Mission and six grandchildren Kayla Gonzalez, Kimberly Gonzalez, Kayleen Wolthuis, Alison Gonzalez, Kaia Portman and Katie Portman and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father Benito Anzaldua and brother Arturo Anzaldua. Chile, or Mat as he was affectionately known, was a great son, husband, father, big brother and grandfather and beloved Tio. Raised in el Rincon, as a youngster, he loved hot rods and cruising at Anzalduas Park. An electrician by trade, he worked on many projects throughout the valley, Texas and Florida. A viewing service will be held on Wednesday, July 14th from 3pm-9pm at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home in Mission with a rosary at 7pm. Funeral mass will be held Thursday, July 15th at 10am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church followed by burial at Granjeno Cemetery. Services are under the care of Ric Brown Family Funeral Home.
