Juan Salinas

November 17, 1924 - June 8, 2022

Mission. On June 8, 2022, Juan Salinas passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Mission, Texas, on November 17, 1924, he died at the age of 97 years young. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 68 years, Leonor Salinas, parents Maria Santillan, Edin Salinas, brothers Ernesto, Gilberto, Jose, Nabor, sisters Lupe and Elida, and great-grandson Ricardo Rene Perez. He is survived by his four daughters, Irene (Ruben) Rivas, Hilda Ortiz, Irma (Ricardo) Perez, Elva (Jim) Boren, and sister Nina Vergara. He is also survived by seven grandsons, Aaron (Cynthia) Rivas, Sergio (Monica) Rivas, Omar Rivas, Gabriel (Maggie) Ortiz, Daniel (Jennette) Ortiz, Geraldo (Alicia) Perez, Jaime (Aissa) Perez, 18 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. Juan Salinas was a proud Veteran of WWII, having served on USS Pasadena in the Pacific Theater during the war. He was a dedicated serviceman with Lemley's Appliance Service of McAllen for many years and, in his retirement, owned and managed Westside Liquor Store in Mission. He and his wife were dedicated parishioners at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary in Mission for many years. He spent his life loving his seven grandsons and always enjoyed sitting around listening to their stories and sharing his stories of WWII and growing up in Mission. Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons. The family would like to thank Dr. Francisco Rugama, Marta Romano, and Harbor Hospice for their dedicated care of Mr. Salinas. Visitation will be at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home in Mission on Thursday, June 16, 2022, with visitation hours from 5pm to 9pm and a Rosary being recited at 7pm. On Friday, June 17, 2022, a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Noon at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Mission, with the rite of committal following at Valley Memorial Gardens. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ric Brown Funeral Home Mission. Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.” Luke 23:43
